Dom Cecere, affectionately known as "Coach", coached the Eastchester Eagles baseball team for 52 seasons, amassing 737 wins, which is the greatest number of wins in the history of New York State HS baseball. His coaching tenure also includes stints within the minor league baseball ranks. He was known as a premier pitching coach and professional pitchers often turned to him for advice during their winter workouts. Coach also received numerous individual awards, including being inducted into the Westchester County and New York State Halls of Fame as well as receiving the prestigious National Baseball Coach of the Year Award.

The story of Coach Cecere only begins with the stats mentioned above and do not define the man or legacy he left with thousands of kids and families. His most significant contribution occurred off the field with his students and players, where he instilled the principles of working hard, playing by the rules, respecting one another and carrying oneself with dignity. A father figure to many, Coach enabled players to fulfill their dreams in athletics and academics. In the little town of Eastchester, NY it is known as the "Cecere Way" of doing things. He was a man who always did the right thing and lived by the principles that he preached which as we all know is not always easy.

On April 1, 2017 Dom Cecere lost his third and final battle to cancer. He is survived by his wife Lyn, three children and three grandchildren. A foundation in his name has been created called Dom Cecere Play for 10, www.playfor10.org, which will award scholarships to deserving college-bound students and engage in other charitable endeavors consistent with Coach Cecere's life of selfless giving.

Members of the foundation were all privileged to have been coached and or mentored by Dom Cecere and we are looking to raise the additional funds to ensure that college-bound students, that epitomize the “Cecere Way,” continue to receive scholarships in Coach Dom Cecere’s name. We will also use the funds to construct a memorial that will allow all past and future generations the ability to remember and benefit from Coach Cecere's teachings on and off the field. The memorial will be adjacent to the baseball field located within the Eastchester High School campus in recognition of Coach as a scholar, mentor and father figure to all the students and alumni.

Please help us raise the funds to memorialize the legacy and career of Coach Cecere while also fostering and financing college scholarships in his name.
