Forest Therapy Guide Training
Donation protected
I am an elementary art teacher who has taught in many different types of school systems in the Southeastern Michigan area, which is as emotionally draining as it is rewarding. I am also a passionate artist and lover of nature. I am looking to branch out of teaching and into a new genre of altruistic and mindful education, called Forest Therapy.
This is based on Shinrin Yoku, a Japanese practice in which overworked people from urban environments reconnect with themselves and their environments through mindful, meditative walks in the forest. I has been scientifically proven to have many positive effects on a person's physical and psychological health.
I would like to bring this practice to my local area, in order to live a more balanced life for myself and also do something that will positively influence those around me. In order to do this, I have to take their training, which is what the funds will go towards. The training sessions are 3210.00. I would like to go to the training in June 2017.
Getting certified as a Forest Therapy Guide would allow me to incorporate more positive and healthful practices into my own life as well as others, because teaching is tough! I will happily send everyone who offers me funds a small artwork as a thankyou!
