Thank you for visiting Caton's GoFundMe page! This was established to assist in paying for Caton'smedical expenses as he is in the hospital for months. The family is so thankful for the good thoughts, prayers, and donations for medical expenses that have been made to his GoFundMe page, as well as Bancorp South  Banks (all locations in Arkansas), and Simmons Bank (2350 Malvern Ave Hot Springs, Arkansas).

Caton Jones is 19 years old from Hot Springs, Arkansas. He is a 2015 graduate from Lakeside High School. At the time of the accident, he was a freshman at the Arkansas State University in Jonesboro where he is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Around 8am Friday January 8th, 2016, while home for winter break, Caton was the passenger of a truck that lost control and hit a tree on the passenger side. He was on the way to his 2nd day of work at a new temporary job he had picked up over the break. Caton suffered a very traumatic brain injury with bleeding of the brain, numerous facial and skull fractures, broken mandible (jaw), collapsed lung, and broken femur. He spent over 3 weeks in ICU on a vent and in a coma, and then progressed to a trach collar. He has since been breathing by his own and awake since early March. He was then moved in April from Baptist Rehab to TimberRidge Neuro-Restorative Center in Benton, AR in which some swelling near his right mandible was noted. Many weeks were spent trying to figure out the cause of swelling in this cheek. He was transferred to UAMS on May 20th, and after many "inconclusive" biopsies, Caton was determined to have a very rare cancer--  histiocystic sarcoma -- that was rapidly developing over his right mandible.  The rapidly growing  'malignant large cell neoplasm' needed to be made smaller with the help of chemotherapy.  The plan was chemo first, surgery last. Caton completed 4 rounds of chemo in Hot Springs, but the tumor failed to get any smaller.

We got word Caton was accepted for transfer to MD Anderson in Houston for a radiation/ surgical consult. Upon arrive in Houston, we were informed of a different diagnosis--- OSTEOSARCOMA.  Although usually a better prognosis, we were unfortunately informed that no radiation was advised, the chemo medicine he needed was lethal, and the tumor was inoperable and too large to be removed.

Thanks to the help of Charity Air Ambulance, Caton was able to be transfered from MD Anderson in Houston, back home to Hot Springs, Arkansas so that Caton can be surrounded by family during this time.

It has been an absolutely unfathomable circumstance that Caton is now fighting cancer that appeared 4 months after a car accident.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He had shown so much progress over the past 10 months, and he needs us now more than ever.

Edit: *Caton was surrounded by his mom and several of his closest friends with he took his last breathe around 8pm on 11.9.2016. Please be thinking of his family and friends, and all who loved Caton.
