CaTia's Endo Journey...

For those who don't know, on November 29, 2018, during a myomectomy surgery, I was diagnosed with endometriosis (endo). Unbeknown to me, I'd suffer from it for a few years. I actually decided to have the abdominal myomectomy to remove a large fibroid because I thought it was the culprit for making me sick every month for the past couple years. After researching endometriosis, I realized that the symptoms and pain I suffered was directly connected to that disease. Since that surgery, I've suffered daily with pain; sometimes bearable, other times very unbearable.

Endometriosis is a dreadful and chronic disease where tissue similar to those inside of the uterus, grows outside of the uterus, causing bleeding, adhesions, and debilitating pain. It can grow on and effect many different organs in your body. During my surgery in November, the surgeon found that I had organs adhered (stuck) together due to the disease. However I guess due to her lack of knowledge about the disease, she didn't remove any, but scraped off a little for biopsy purposes. I've come to appreciate the fact that she only released my adhered organs, as I have learned that endometriosis' golden standard for treatment is an excision surgery, where they cut away the disease, from an expert excision specialists, which are few in number in the world. And by the grace of God, I found one of the best endometriosis specialists 4 hours away from me, in Atlanta, GA, to help me become normal again, as endometriosis has really effected so many different parts of me.

Although God has continually kept me mentally strengthened, endometriosis has managed to bring me to my knees in excruciating pain. It has caused tears to flow uncontrollably from my eyes. It has caused me to not be able to travel or work, due to laying in a fetal position with meds, a heating pad, tears, calling on the name of Jesus, and sleeping, being my only sense of relief. It has effected my ability to walk, or even sit some days, due to it effecting my sciatic nerve. Pain meds don't work, physical therapy didn't help me, neither does birth control, which doctors put us endo girls on to help with symptoms of the disease. Endo has overwhelmed me..pain among other issues have sent me into panic attacks, where I've struggled to breathe while singing on the choir one Sunday morning, I've had to be physically carried by my co-worker to my supervisors car for her to take me home, while another co worker drove my car. I've had to be told by ER doctors that theirs nothing they could do for me but pain pills, that does not help with this tyoe of pain. Endometriosis not only wears on the physical, but also the mental. I've noticed me not being able to fully focus, or having to think extra hard to keep up with a conversation, and especially just wanting to be isolated to keep from being a burden to the world around me. But thankfully I have family, co-workers, and brothers and sisters-in Christ, who have shown that they truly care, and no matter what, they are always there for me. I truly love ya'll for helping me keep my sanity. They've strengthened me in ways they'll never understand.

Now that I've been blessed to find such a great doctor to excise endometriosis, remove affected organs and cysts, to decrease my pain by 85-90% , I need help financially, as the surgery by itself is expensive, at a whopping $17,500, in which I have to have $7,500 upfront, the day before surgery. Not including hospital cost, hotel stay, and weeks out of work. So any donation amount is humbly accepted and appreciated, as I journey to get my life back. Surgery will either be June 5th or the 12th.

In advance, I truly want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a great blessing to me. May God bless you beyond what you can imagine. I love you.
