My dear friends and family,
As the Beatles once sang, “and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.” This lyric reminds me of my aunt Cathy who just passed away.
Cathy was a true inspiration and left an imprint on our hearts. She was my second mother, a close friend, and a role model. She made the best of every situation. No matter how difficult and painful a step may have been, she continued to move forward with persistence and strength, supported by the love and enthusiasm our family and friends provided.
Cathy carried herself with such poise and elegance, eager to share her passion of knowledge, history, art, justice, and, of course, The Beatles. No matter what condition she was in, she never complained, instead ensuring that everyone around her was happy and comfortable. She made incredible friendships that blossomed into lasting relationships with everyone who was part of her life, including the nurses and doctors who cared for her. Everyone who came in contact with
Cathy was inspired by her strength.
I know we all feel heartbroken and speechless with no right words to say. I feel strongly about showing my love and support with this letter and with this request for a donation from you. With your help, we will create the Cathy Cherbosque Scholarship, which will go toward funding the education of nurses who specialize in cancer research and treatment. The knowledge, support, and love of the nurses and doctors made such a difference in Cathy's life and helped alleviate the difficulty of her chemo treatments.
I truly believe that with every donation (big or small) my aunt will be smiling from heaven knowing that we are honoring her passions. I hope that one day we can find a cure to this terrible disease. Even though she is no longer here, the memories and love that she instilled in us will last forever.
