It saddens me to announce that Casey Fay (Berrian) passed away from a drug overdose on Monday, January 8th, 2018. Casey was a tough woman who had been fighting a battle with the disease of addiction for a very long time. Casey was an active member of the recovery community. Despite her continued struggle to maintain her sobriety, she returned to the rooms with conviction every time. Casey was determined to beat this disease. She once told me that “every time I get high, all I want is to be sober”. She fought the disease of addiction with a lot of determination. I know that we are all heart-broken that the girl who could never give up finally lost the fight for her life.
In an effort to help celebrate Casey and her beautiful soul, we are setting up this GoFundMe account to support the process financially. So many people have expressed their sorrow at the loss of this vibrant member of our community. This memorial service is important as a way for those of us who are grieving to be together and honor her memory. All funds collected will go towards paying for the venue and other needs so that we may honor Casey’s memory. Any excess funds will be donated to Prevention Point Philadelphia for the purposes of providing Narcan, a life-saving overdose reversal drug, and other support to people still in active addiction in the greater Philadelphia area.
Please donate whatever you feel able to give. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute financially and still want to participate in some other way, please contact myself or Nik Kostenko (who will be in charge of the donations) via Facebook private messenger or through direct text. Regardless if you are able to contribute or not, your presence at honoring her memory on February 4th at the William Way Center from 1-4 p.m. will be eternally appreciated and welcomed.
