Carteret County Hurricane Florance

As all of you know, Carteret County and surrounding areas were devastated by hurricane Florance.  What some of you may not know is I spent the first 20 years of my life growing up in Carteret County.  As a local, sitting 2.5 hours inland where I currently live in Nash County watching this all unfold was heart breaking.  I’m sure many of you feel the same.  I felt so helpless watching my home town get destroyed and leaving it’s residents homeless, without food, and without the daily necessities.  I refuse to sit by and do nothing, so I am raising money to purchase a trailer full of goods to personally haul down there this weekend.  I work night shift and will get off at 10am on Friday September 21st and will head down there afterwards.  I would love the be able to pack my truck and trailer slam full!  After speaking with the local bishops of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterly Day saints in Morehead City and in Harkers Island, as well as some first responders and highway patrol, some high demand items at this time are; fuel, food, water, tarps, cleaning kits, and linens.  Harkers Island is still projected to be 2 weeks out of power and desperately need fuel for generators and chainsaws, as well as food and water.  Morehead is rationing fuel 10 gal per person and the line is horrendously long.   If you want to donate items yourself you can contact me personally and meet me in Rocky Mount.  Or you can donate to the cause and I will purchase the items myself, load them up, and haul them down.  I am not affiliated with any organization, church, or particular party.  These donations will be directly distributed straight to the residents of the county through me when I get there.  If you felt the same way I did, heartbroken from this disaster, and feel helpless and don’t have the time and resources to personally help out, this is a perfect way to directly serve the residents of this wonderful county.  Thank you so much!  God bless you all!
