*Somewhat unfortunately, this campaign has come to an end, seeing that Carole extremely quickly passed away. The upside is that she did not suffer long and was surrounded by family when she died a peaceful death. Thank you once again. Any leftover funds will go towards grief therapy for Wendy.
Carole Ferrigno, a 55 year-old female on the autism spectrum (with some other developmental issues) has recently been diagnosed with invasive bladder cancer. Her case is terminal.
We are raising funds so that her best pal and older sister, Wendy Bernardin, can take time off of work to care for her. As Wendy is the primary breadwinner in the household, this will come at a great cost. The funds raised will help offset things like health insurance and mortgage payments as Wendy takes time off from her job as an elementary school, special education teacher here in Florida (selected this year as teacher of the year).
Although Wendy is deeply committed to her students, she is more committed to her special sister. In fact, over the past ten years Wendy has been Carole's primary caregiver.
This situation is fairly urgent, as Carole has begun receiving palliative care only. And Wendy's leave leave from work has begun, so her savings will begin to dwindle.
