Welcome to the go fund me for Carol Engstrom and Dylan Adderley. As we were unable to accept donations through meal train (everyone should have received a refund) we are using this platform to collect donations for Carol & Dylan.
On June 20, 2019, Carol was involved in a serious bicycle accident near Kelowna. She sustained major injuries and underwent multiple surgeries at the hospital in Kelowna to stabilize her bone fractures. On July 8, Carol was transferred to Calgary Foothills where she is in stable condition in the trauma recovery ward. She has regained consciousness, is aware of her surroundings, making facial expressions, and squeezing hands. These are all excellent signs, however, she still has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
Many people want to express their support with a financial contribution and the family is grateful for everyone's kindness. The total financial need is currently unknown as we wait and see what the road to recovery looks like for Carol. In the near term, financial donations will be put toward making up for lost income, childcare, take out, and costs related to hospital visits such as parking, gas, and meals. We have estimated this to be $10,000 initially and have added a bit more to account for the transaction fees.
