Medical, General Help Fund

Donation protected
ETA: I have edited this story to reflect time passed and my current situation. This was first categorized as an "Emergency" campaign, but has been updated to medical&healing for accuracy.

Right now -- as of 5/31 -- it feels more like an emergency. I was able to raise nearly $1000 between February and the end of May, but I feel I have to raise the goal because I'm not sure what else to do.

$3000 seems like an audacious ask. I am embarrassed, but if I could have my rent and some of the bills covered, it would help me greatly.

Car: Background and Update

February was an extremely difficult month, beginning with an accident which totaled the car. (RIP, car. You were a good car.)

During this time, the people who have donated helped me be able to pay my rent. Thank you so much.

Medical: Background and Update

I have recently had a surgery to remove a mark which the doctor thought might be cancerous, or could turn cancerous over time. Luckily, it turned out to be completely benign. I still have to pay the bills for lab work, the visits, and surgery.

Additionally, Augusta Health, of which I have been a patient for the last two years, recently sent me a bill along with a letter claiming that they do not have my insurance on file. The bill is from my primary care provider, who definitely has my insurance information, but I am being billed by him as uninsured for whatever reason, to the tune of $62.

I also have asthma and this season in particular has a lot of my triggers, with changing weather and pollen. All of my inhalers, including my rescue inhaler, have run out. I would like to exercise more and carry my inhaler with me, but I can't afford the copay to refill those prescriptions.

I see a specialist once a week, who unfortunately does not take my insurance. Through their financial aid program, my weekly fee is $40. This has done more for me in just a couple of weeks than any number of specialists have done over the course of years. I need to continue this care, and $40 a week is difficult with other expenses piling up.

Job and More Medical Stuff: Background and Update

I have debilitating chronic pain. It has interfered with my ability to hold a job and continue graduate school. I left both my old job and my graduate school program to try and sort this all out. I'm returning to graduate school in the fall, but if I'm not financially stable then I don't know if this is feasible. I cannot see a specialist for more medical help until mid-December, the earliest appointment available. I don't currently get enough hours at work or high enough of a wage to cover all the things I need.

[To contextualize what I mean by chronic pain, please see this comparative pain scale with accompanying discussion. I usually hover around a 5, while a 4 is a good day; as of May, though, it tends to be worse.]

I am seeking a second job so that I have more income, but have not had any luck so far.

Please consider giving. (Also keep in mind that both GoFundMe and PayPal take a fee from your donation-- something like 6% total, I believe.) Anything at all would be appreciated.

Plus, if you give $10, I'll email or message you to ask if you'd like to get a used book. :)
