Dear Family and Friends,
As most of you know, my twin brother Carl had a seizure while driving home from work on October 21st. He was brought to the emergency room where they did a CAT scan of his brain and came to know he had multiple brain aneurysms. He was transported to Overlook Hospital and underwent an angiogram with the hopes of coiling the aneurysms but due to the location and size of them, that procedure was not going to be an option. On October 26th, he underwent brain surgery. What we thought was going to be a day or two in ICU and a few more in the hospital, has turned out to be our worst fear. He is now looking at six months to a year for “possibly” a full recovery. While we are grateful the operation was a success and he is still with us, his insurance will no longer cover his in-patient rehabilitation since physically he is fine. On November 22nd., and after several appeals with insurance and doctors, he is being discharged today but will need 24/7 care and supervision. Carl is not aware of his condition, nor can he gather his thoughts about where he is, why he was there, what day or year he is living in. As you can imagine the amount of medical bills is astronomical and it appears we are only at the beginning of this journey. He will need extensive outpatient therapy in order to help him remember. His wife needs to figure out how to take care of him 24/7, maintain her job, take care of their 12 year old daughter, bring him back and forth to a rehab facility and therefore, we are setting up this Go Fund Me account.
I know times are hard on everyone these days, and especially during this time of year, but any amount you could possibly contribute would be helpful. Even if you cannot help monetarily, please share this go Fund Me account on your social media to your friends and family and let them know how you know or knew Carl.
The night before surgery I said to Carl, “You Got This- I’ll see you on Friday”- well many Friday’s have come and gone and while he doesn’t “got this” yet- he is on his way! He is a fighter and strong and so is his wife, but we need your help, we cannot do this alone.
