Have a heart for Carlos

Meet Carlos a 2 year old male chihuahua in need of heart surgery. Carlos along with three other chihuahuas came into the Hinton and District SPCA November 24, 2015. They were found abandoned on an acreage outside of Edson in very cold weather. Carlos was fostered  out to Jade and her Mom. Jade and Carlos quickly fell in love.  At his vet check it was discovered that he has a significant heart murmur, it was recommended that Carlos go to Guardian Veterinary in Edmonton for an echocardiogram. His foster home didn't have the money, but all Jade wanted for Christmas was Carlos' echocardiogram. The Hinton and District SPCA agreed to pay half the cost and Carlos was on the road to Guardian Veterinary. Severe valvular pulmonic stenosis was found. Carlos' right ventricle is having to pump 4 to 5 times the normal pressure of blood which could lead to heart failure. Guardian Veterinary has recommended balloon dial action to decrease the severity of the obstruction. The surgery will cost $4500 plus GST, and post operative medication.  The Hinton and District SPCA is trying to raise $5000 for Carlos' medical care.
