Hi there! My name is Carla Thomas. I'm in my final year as a TV Production student at Bournemouth University, and I'm currently in the process of planning my graduate project: a 15-minute studio game show called WhatsApp-ening!
The show, whose title plays on the name of the instant messaging app WhatsApp, is a comedy quiz/game show about current affairs in social media. With a similar format to existing shows such as Celebrity Juice or Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 6 panelists (in teams of 3) will engage in chaotic challenges to gain points and win the game, but not without a fair share of inter-team banter! The challenges the teams will face are all based on recent happenings in social media, such as memes, scandals, and viral posts and videos across platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
Any donations, no matter how small, would be immensely appreciated! The money donated would go towards a number of different things:
First and foremost, donations would go towards paying (at the very least) the expenses of the guests, which may include travel and accomodation costs.
The show is heavily talent-based, so good contributors are a must if the show is to stand amongst established programmes of the same genre. I am determined to find the best possible contributors for the show, and this means they may be travelling from all over the country to take part.
Donations would also go towards props and set design. In order for the show to be of the same caliber as the already successful programmes of the same nature, the same amount of effort must be put in to the set decoration.
Lastly, donations would go towards food for the 7 cast members and 15 crew, who will all be shooting for 4 days.
WhatsApp-ening is set to shoot in May 2017, and will be available to watch online in June 2017. All donors will receive a link to the finished show. Generous donations upwards of £25 will recieve a named thanks in the credits, as well as a photo of the cast and crew!
