Carin’s Support for Recovery

My name is Carin. I have been a teacher for 28 years. In my 4th year teaching a student died in my physical education class while I was trying to safe his life. I did not get any support from my employer and did not seek professional help at that time. I have suffered for 24 years.! I went to work so afraid every single day worrying that another student might be in trouble and I would freeze and be unable to help. I have suppressed a lot intense emotions from this trauma I experienced for years. I blame myself for his death and that I did not send all the students in his class into the school who were there and watched him die. I became Bulimic. Last year I told someone and asked for help, no one new up until then. After treatment I realized I no longer was engaging in the behaviours to help me deal with the PTSD symptoms. I was in inpatient treatment for my Eating Disorder for 6 months last year. The recommendation upon discharge was that I seek intense PTSD treatment. I also got Cinnamon my Service Dog he has really given me some hope that I may be well again. He gives me a reason to get up everyday. My insurance coverage covers 6 sessions per calendar year and I will then have to now pay &300 weekly to seek the help I so desperately need. I am now on Long Term Disability 55% of my income and have cashed in all my RRSPs and drained my savings to cover treatment and therapy costs. But I need your support to continue with my treatment. I am halfway through treatment and really want to be well and enjoy the rest of my life free from suffering.
