Erin's Story
On June 15, 2019, doctors conducted a CT scan and a bronchoscope of Erin's upper airway which revealed a tumor preventing her from breathing. She under went surgery to remove some of the tumor to open her airway.

A biopsy of the tumor was completed and the pathology report determined the tumor was a rare, malignant type of cancer called adenoid cystic carcinoma. After 18 days in the hospital, Erin is getting her strength back for the next leg of this fight. A board of oncologists has recommended 6.5 weeks of advanced proton radiation therapy, Monday through Friday, along with a low dose of two types of chemo administered once weekly. After therapy is completed, it's estimated there will be about a 2-3 month recovery period.
Brief Bio on Erin
Erin Risser is a dedicated mother to her two sons, Kyler and Daegan, and a loving wife to her husband Vince. She's a graduate of Penn State with a BA in Communications and later earned an Associate RN Degree in Nursing. Erin has a passion for helping others and cared for hundreds of patients in the hospital, home health, and mental health settings. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, she was about to enroll into a Nurse Practitioner Degree (NP) program so she could further help her patients with whom she cares for so much. Erin looks forward to the day she can put all this behind her and focus again on her family and helping others.
