A young Jamaican woman, is selling her car to finance her move to the USA for a job opportunity.

A hard-working professional driver in Jamaica needs his own vehicle to take his business to the next level.

By supporting this campaign, you will help not one but two people.

***There is urgency. Shantel missed the deadline for the   first installment which was February 1st. Fortunately, the deadline has been extended to February 27th as there is still room. I ***

If 100 people give even $20 each, she will have more than enough for the deposit.

If you need more details, please contact me and I would be happy to provide them.  If you are able to make a substantial donation, I would be happy to put you in touch with them directly.

Background: Last year, I wrote an article for Huffington post  to raise awareness about the challenges that workers in sun destinations are having in generating a living wage, despite working for very long hours.

How to Stimulate the Local Economy in Sun Destinations

This campaign will help 2 of them.

Shantel has been accepted into the Six Flags Seasonal Work programme.  It will generate income and give her some valuable work experience.

She is selling her 1995 Toyota Corolla 110 to pay for travel, moving, and initial living expenses. I have known her parents for many years and they are not in a position to help her.

She has to go to the USA  for this opportunity.

The taxi driver took the initiative of obtaining  his taxi license after the company where he used to work as a truck driver for about 20 years went out of business. He is very hard working, professional and safety conscious. He has provided excellent service to me and my family during trips to Jamaica. He needs his own vehicle as drivers who don't have their own car get to keep a very small portion of the fares they collect. (The bulk of the fare goes to the owners.)

Help 2 people through one campaign.

The vehicle needs some upholstery repair, some painting, and minor body work and then it will be good to go.  The small business owner, Mark, who operates the garage where the repairs will be completed will also benefit from this campaign. He is a mechanic by training and has worked himself up from humble beginnings. I have known him and his family since he was a toddler.

The goal is to raise $6800 Canadian as soon as possible to cover the purchase, repairs, license, and insurance.

Please do whatever you can to help reach this goal and give this deserving driver and young lady a leg up.

Thank you for your support, Help spread the word.
