Canton's Tree-Bound Kitty

Greetings, animal lovers of Canton. Earlier this morning I spotted a FB post on "Everything Canton" about a kitty who had been stranded in a tree overnight. I, like many others I am sure, assumed that it would be making its way down any minute and was shocked to see that it was still there hours later. As she was 5 minutes from my parents' house, I decided to investigate the situation. My heart sank as I crept around to the property and spotted her silhouette, 100 feet up. She was uttering pitiful meows and making ill-fated attempts to paw her way down. It was awful!!!! After several unsuccessful attempts of securing tree-removal experts, New England Tree company agreed to assess the situation. It was determined that the surrounding vegetation was not conducive to the use of a bucket truck so a climber was dispatched...to the tune of $350. The climber ambled up with a zippered pillowcase in tow as the landlubbers below waited with baited breath. Would she scamper away or climb even higher? At this point, she wasn't moving much and seemed to be slumped over a fork in the branches. Finally, after establishing a bit of rapport, he reached over and tried to ease her into the bag. She clung right onto him instead and the climber swung down, holding the rope in one hand and the kitten in the other. Our cat connoisseur, Gail White, was on deck below, and volunteered to care for her until she is well enough to be re-homed. Requested funds will cover the rescue efforts (I am donating $50 of the $350, so $300) as well as an estimated $150 for the vet bill. Thank you to all who helped to rescue this exhausted beauty, she was terrified and seems very content in her new quarters.
