Canton Compass 2.0

Donation protected
Over the past several years, the residents of Canton, CT have looked to local news web sites to tell them why traffic is backed up on Dowd Avenue, what their kids did at Project Graduation, how selectmen voted on an important issue, which restaurant plans to come into town and the little known facts about a beloved friend we lost too soon.
My name is John Fitts and I’ve run two of these sites. After running Canton Patch for several years, I founded my own site - Canton Compass.
Earlier this year, I accepted a position at The Litchfield County Times and while that job is wonderful in many ways and provided a steady paycheck, it’s left little time to focus on Canton Compass.
I've missed covering my town on such an intimate basis.
It's time to revitalize CantonCompass.com for 2016 but I need your help.
My goal is to achieve a modest salary that will allow me to continue this work full time, while investing enough into the business to make it even more vibrant. This campaign, while ambitious, will go a long way toward achieving that goal. I think of it as a voluntary subscription.
If you own a business, please contact me through this page to learn more about a current advertising special celebrating the site's revitalization.
With the combination of reader and business support, I hope to expand Compass, hiring freelance writers and photographers and smartly investing in technology that will make the site even more vibrant.
Thank you so much for giving what you can and spreading the word.
