Cannon's Scary Dog Stuff

On Thursday, April 20th, something terrifying and awful and scary happened to our dog Cannon. She was acting totally normal until she - as far as we can tell - lost total control of her body. She threw up her dinner totally undigested, defecated herself, and eventually collapsed hitting her head on the table on the way down. She remained unresponsive for about 20 minutes while drove her to the vet.

Now that she's at the vet, she's finally pupil responsive but very weak. The vet says her symptoms are consistent with anaphylaxis, but they can't be sure. For now, they said her prognosis is good. Her liver has a chance of failing, but we have to wait it out through this "severe stage" in order to get a better read on her long term prognosis.

This "severe stage" could last 4-5 days, and she'll be staying at the vet during that time, costing around $1000/day (as quoted by the vet). She's on constant IV fluids, will receive daily blood tests, X-Rays, and whatever else they do at vets to make sure your animal survives.

Unless you totally don't know me at all, you know that I've wanted a dog for years. When I went to meet Cannon, I waited outside of the shelter for 3 hours before they opened to make sure I wouldn't be bypassed. I knew when I met her that she was my dog. When Tom met her, he knew she was our dog. She is our soul mate, and she's the missing piece to our little family.

These funds will help with any and all costs incurred while we wait out her time at the vet. I'd say that even a quarter would help, but I don't think they let you put that in the donation box, so I can't say that.
