Relief to volcano-struck Guatemala

Donation protected
On June 3rd the Fuego Volcano erupted affecting thousands of people in the surrounding areas.  The death toll rose to 99, but the damage to people’s lungs and health due to the pyroclastic cloud that the volcano continues to shoot will be devastating for many.  Most of all the volcano’s victims are from impoverished, coffee-growing hamlets near the mountain's lower slopes.

The Canadian Guatemalan Association of Calgary (CANGUA), is looking for funds to bring much-needed supplies to some of the affected areas.  We currently have one of our members in Guatemala, Maria Jose Faundez (president of the association), working with her family to bring supplies to the many collection centers in the city.  Another one of our members,  Nancy Rivera, who is from Jocotenango (very close to the disaster site), will be joining the relief efforts in the next few days. She will be traveling with some donated medical supplies to Guatemala. The supplies needed are blankets, masks, canned food, hygiene products and underwear for the people that had to be evacuated from the towns near the volcano.   We are hoping to raise as much as possible to purchase as many of these items as possible for the victims

\Note, we are not yet registered as a non-profit organization so we will be unable to give you a tax-deductible receipt.

Please donate.  We will ensure that every penny goes directly to the people in need.  For more information, please email [email redacted] or contact our association's vice-president Giovanni Chajon at [email redacted]
