Funeral and other expenses

$4,740 of $25,000 goal

I am sorry to report that on Thursday, November 9, my nephew Jesse Cativiela, 26, of Vista, California, lost his nearly two-year battle with cancer. Jesse leaves behind a son, Colton, who just turned six this month, and Colton's mother, Caitlin. Jesse is also survived by his father and mother, Charles and Angela, who cared for him around the clock for most of the last two years, and Jesse's older brother, Paul.

A celebration of life will be held this Saturday, November 18 at 4 p.m. at the home of Charles and Angela, 1740 Bonair Road, in Vista. Friends and family are welcome.

As we've said before, this campaign's purpose was to partially offset the tremendous financial burden this family has borne throughout Jesse's struggle.  While insurance covered basic medical expenses, it could not make up for lost income as family members took turns caring for Jesse,  and for many extra expenses not covered by insurance. And now, sadly, modet funeral expenses as well.

Our goal was to raise as much as $25,000. For those who have already given and helped us raise nearly $5,000 to lighten their burdens, we are forever grateful.

For those who are just learning of the family's loss and haven't already donated to this campaign, please consider a gift in Jesse's memory.  The family's needs are still great and any gift is appreciated. Please join us in celebrating Jesse's life and his tremendous spirit, and helping the family along the road to spiritual and financial recovery.

Dear friends:

I am sorry to report that today, my nephew Jesse lost his brave battle with cancer. He passed at his parents' home in Vista, California, surrounded by the loved ones who have cared and prayed for him day and night for months. Please send your thoughts and prayers to Jesse's father, Charles, Jesse's mother, Angie, and to Jesse's five-year-old son, Colton, as well as to Jesse's brother, Paul, and to Caitlin, Colton's mother, who shared in the caregiving for the last few months. The family has suffered an unbearable loss and yet they must bear it nevertheless.

Please know that your prayers, thoughts and donations meant a lot to this family and will not be forgotten. It is always nice to have people who care in our lives, but it is especially meaningful when the road is troubled and the burdens heavy.
