We're Cancer Computer !
We're a Canadian non-profit that believes high-performance computing (HPC) will eventually cure cancer.
We're 'Computing for the Cure'.
Cancer researchers worldwide face challenges accessing HPC resources because of byzantine-style bureaucracy and / or funding. Also, researchers aren't IT folks, so sometimes they need help.
The sad reality is that this is delaying cancer research!
We're trying to overcome this challenge by building a supercomputer that researchers can easily access to process their data at no cost, and get technical assistance when they need it.
We're also making it easier for them to repeat their experiments, which is currently a challenge on shared institutional computers.
They also have somewhere else to back up their research data, which is smart thinking!
We currently have a proof-of-concept 6 server cluster, with 144 cores and 48TB storage, that you can see in the picture, that we would like to expand.
We would use your money to increase our offering to a 17 server cluster with 800 cores and 288TB of storage. This would also pay for our electricity, colocation, and high-speed internet costs.
This would allow us to serve many more researchers, or our existing researchers much faster.
There are lots of supercomputers in the world, but none are dedicated to cancer, and none are free to researchers.
With your help, corporate goodwill, and some government grants, we can pool this money, and create a Cancer Research Platform available to all cancer researchers worldwide.
We want to help curing cancer. The more we can offer researchers, the faster they can get their research done, and the sooner new treatments and drugs can be made available, inching us ever closer to a cure.
We would be immensely grateful for any generous contribution. Cancer is the greatest challenge to humankind, and every little bit directed toward research, will pay huge dividends.
