Cancer Treatment for Matt Williams

If you know Matt Williams, you know he's a “great guy.” This phrase doesn’t do Matt justice, but he truly is a great guy for so many reasons. Matt is friendly, extremely outgoing, kind and generous – always giving to the homeless and those less fortunate. Matt is a caring and sweet husband to his wife, Mindy. Matt is a loving, patient and present father to two young children – 4 month old Millie and 2 year old Walter. Matt is a dog lover and currently has three dogs that he's rescued. Matt is the proud son of Tammy and Rod Williams and a supportive brother to Brandon. Matt is a great friend to many –an amazing listener with a great sense of humor. Possibly most important right now is that:
-Matt is always optimistic – even when times are tough.
-Matt is incredibly selfless – more concerned about his family than himself right now.
-Matt and his family have a strong faith in God.
Unfortunately, Matt was diagnosed with Stage III liver cancer on November 9th, 2018.
Matt has multiple tumors on his liver and will begin chemotherapy this week in hopes to reduce and eliminate the tumors.
Matt will eventually need a liver transplant. This will require lifelong medication and special care.
This is a scary diagnosis and outlook for anyone, and the situation is especially startling and *surreal* as a 34-year-old dad with two young children.
When it rains, it pours. Matt was let go from his sales job at a small tech start-up about one month before his cancer diagnosis. This may have been a blessing in disguise because he can now focus on his treatment and recovery, but this has put additional stress and financial strain on the family as he has had to line-up new insurance coverage that is quite costly. His wife, Mindy, hasn’t worked out of the home since their second child was born this past summer, but she quickly found a new job just two weeks after Matt’s diagnosis in order to help with the finances. Mindy is a strong woman and she and Matt make a great team, but they could definitely use our support during this difficult time. Mindy and Matt both wake up every day hoping this situation was a bad dream. With your financial support and prayers, we hope to help Matt kick cancer’s arse and make this bad dream go away for him and his family.
