Cancer Fund For Lilly

Donation protected

My amazing and lovely wife Lilly was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. She is a rare case according to doctors because she is so young (36),shes never smoked, doesn't drink, and it doesn't run in her family. It was pure luck that we caught it when we did. She was having extreme pain from her PCOS (ovary cysts) and went to the emergency room. After doing blood tests they found she was critically anemic so thank God they ran a CT scan and found a large tumor in her colon. After running more tests they found it had spread to her liver. We took her to get the best treatment available in the state at Duke hospital. She was picked to be part of a new treatment that only 5 others at Duke have received with a chemo liver pump. Before this could happen she had to undergo 10 hours of surgeries to remove her appendix, gall bladder, lymph nodes, ovaries, and half of her colon. After the removal they found it had also spread to her ovaries but luckily it wasn't a separate primary cancer. The game plan for now is that we will be driving 6 hours every couple of weeks for appointments and chemo treatment through this new pump that will deliver the chemo directly to the liver. It has to be filled every 2 weeks and she will also be getting regular chemo treatments on top of this. The liver pump will increase her chances of remission by 25% so we are hopeful that we can beat this thing. Luckily the cancer has not spread to the abdomen or pelvic region as far as they can tell so they are going to treat it very aggressively.

We have been trying to have children but to no avail because of the PCOS and cancer but we still look forward to adopting if we can beat this thing. My wife is the kindest and most loving person I have ever met. She can walk into any room and brighten everyone's day. She is an angel and would make an amazing mother. We currently run a small farm of goats and chickens but with the bills and expenses we will be facing there is no way we can afford to keep all of our fur babies. What absolutely broke my heart and tells you what a self-less person she is I never saw her shed a tear over the news of her condition...She remained strong and courageous throughout. The first time I saw her break down was not over concern for herself but over the fact that we may have to sell some of our goats.

We were so incredibly happy to start a new life here and we purchased a small farm in the country not but 7 months ago. Now we are worried that with all the medical expenses we are facing and if she isnt able to keep her job we will not be able to afford payments.  We are asking for help from friends, family, and the undeserved kindness of strangers to help us during these difficult times. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated even if its just small ones to help cover travel costs. If you would like to send get well cards too that would also help lift my wife's spirits. I created a wall of get well cards from friends and family and I will be more than happy to keep adding to this healing shrine. My wife is strong and we are determined to beat this thing and share many more decades together in peace and happiness! Ty from the Hunter family and God bless!!
