Cancer and Flood Relief for My Dad Dave Wooden

Donation protected
After a year of feeling something was wrong and getting tests, My dad, Dave Wooden, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

He is currently receiving hormone, chemo, and radiation to try to slow and hopefully get rid of the cancer.

He has an array of side effects from the treatments: exhaustion and fatigue, deep pressure and pain  in his prostate, irregular bowels, skin pain and sensitivity, and many other issues that make it hard to impossible to continue working at this time.

He he is the only one who works in his household and is self employed. Dave owns a small business, Shore Acres Siding, where he does siding, Windows, doors, roofs, new builds and remodels, and he does most of the work himself with occasional help from friends and his son.

My dad's  symptoms and cancer have greatly impacted his ability to sustain work through his treatments, and his treatments have only just begun.

on top of this, my parents house has greatly been impacted by the flood. There is still about 3 feet of water in the basement and garage.

The water came up higher and faster than anticipated, and although there was a lot of flood preparation, the pony and chickens had to be emergency evacuated.  Many appliances, some vehicles, and other things have been destroyed including their brand new water heater, fridge, and deep freezer.

Federal aid through FEMA that is normally available in such catastrophes is not going to provide any funding or clean up supply relief to families affected by this flood.

Not only is clean up going to be time consuming, but also expensive! With Dave's current cancer symptoms and treatment through June,  it will be a long road to flood clean up and recovery.

Because of the major flooding and limited resources, Dave is staying at home. He must take a canoe or use waiters to get out to the road, shower at a neighbors house (since they have no water heater and basement is under water still) and drive his old truck over to his daily radiation treatments.

My Dad is a selfless man that would do anything to support his local community.

He has taken in Young men, when no one else would give them a chance. He teaches them valuable life skills, gives them work, and offers family meals and support.

Dave often takes care of and checks up on the elderly folks and neighbors in his community. He plows their driveways and brings meals, has helped take them to their doctor appointments, and helps fix things when they have no one else to call.

He is always there when anyone is in need, but would never ask anyone for help.

Because of this I want to help him so he can get the rest and  support he needs to hopefully fully recover from his cancer, and he can continue to be a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren, June (5 years old) and Elijah (1 year old).

Please consider helping to support my dad through his prostate cancer and difficulties with this major river flood!
