Canan and Selahattin's IVF Journey

Donation protected
If you know Canan and Selahattin, you know they will be amazing parents. Selahattin is smart, patient and caring, and Canan is hands down, one of the kindest people we’ve ever met. She has an amazing gift for teaching and interacting with children of all ages and we can’t wait to see her become a mother.

Canan is a very close friend of ours and the past several years have been exhausting and desolate for her and Selahattin. They have been married for 10 years and during that time have lost 3 babies. In 2013, when Canan was 20 weeks pregnant, it was discovered that her son had no heartbeat and she gave birth to a still born baby. In 2015, she became pregnant again and unfortunately had a miscarriage. After these two losses, they went through extensive medical testing and learned that they would need IVF with Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)  in order to have a healthy baby. In 2016 they began IVF, and although they initially had 8 embryos, only 1 was healthy enough to be transferred. Unfortunately, this round of IVF also ended in a miscarriage at 10 weeks.

In just a few short days, Canan and Selahattin will temporarily relocate from Texas to Michigan to begin IVF again. Their insurance does not cover any infertility treatment, but a reputable hospital in Michigan is offering their IVF services at a 60% discount to self-pay patients. Due to their medical histories as well as history of stillbirth and recurrent pregnancy loss, they will require extensive genetic testing for each embryo, making their IVF costs even higher. $20,000 is a big ask, but they are paying completely out of pocket for all of their IVF medications, shots, treatments, genetic tests and temporary housing while in Michigan.

We are here to ask you to donate anything you can to help this amazing couple realize their dreams of finally having a child of their own.

You can also support them by sharing this page, lifting them up in prayer, or sending them a quick message to let them know you are thinking of them. However you can support them, we want to thank you for being part of our community, and for believing in them.

To help get the word out, you can share this page directly to your Facebook timeline! Thank you again for taking the time to read about Canan and Selahattin’s story. We will share updates once they arrive in Michigan and begin treatment!
