Hensel Christian Youth Camp

Donation protected
For more than five decades, Camp Hensel has been a place where young people studied the Bible, put on Jesus Christ in baptism, and made lifelong friendships.  Hensel Christian Youth Camp is a 337 acre encampment in the beautiful Texas Hill Country outside of Austin which was donated in 1965 by the Hensel family for use by members of the Church of Christ, their families, and their guests.  Young people from many Central Texas area congregations and beyond build great memories here during their camp sessions dedicated to studying God’s word and enjoying great fellowship and recreation.  But after more than five decades of use, the camp facilities are in need of renovation and repairs.  This GoFundMe page is established to generate much needed donations to the Hensel Building Fund, with specific goals setup in two phases.  Please consider making a tax deductible donation to this non-profit organization to enable Christian young people and adults alike to continue to enjoy this facility for generations to come.

Phase 1:
Funds raised will be targeted to three urgent items: Code requirements dictate that the camp must install a new fire prevention vent hood system in the kitchen. This is a $17,000 expense that the camp must make immediately in order to keep using the camp kitchen.  Also, two aging trailer homes used for camper’s and staff quarters are well beyond their useful life and are in need of being replaced before next summer.

These need to be replaced by one larger new cabin, estimated at a cost of $120,000.  The large bath-house in the upper cabin area was built in the 1960’s when the camp was begun, and is in dire need of renovation which is estimated to cost $60,000.  These Phase 1 changes are needed IMMEDIATELY, and the total fundraising goal for Phase 1 is $200,000.

Phase 2:
All of the older cabins need to be renovated.  Also, to better accommodate large camps, renovation of the cafeteria is needed to enlarge and upgrade the kitchen cooking area, provide more covered seating, and replace aging equipment such as ice makers, the dishwasher, and the walk-in-cooler.  Total fundraising goal for Phase 2 is $400,000.
