Camp Trach Me Away is Georgia’s newest and only and camping experience for a medically fragile children that traditionally fall between the cracks of special needs community activities—those living with tracheotomies. Trach-dependent kids need extra special care and although smart, active and longing for a week of overnight summer camp like their friends, there is no program that accepts children with tracheotomies. Until now!
Camp Trach Me Away exists to provide an opportunity for children with tracheotomies to experience the acceptance of the greater community, socialize and learn life skills and gain support from their peers and engage in activities that will help them realize their full potential as individuals within the community at-large, encouraging a sense of independence.
Our first camp is the week of July 10, 2017 at the renowned Camp Twin Lakes site in Rutledge, Georgia. Our commitment to these new campers, many of whom are low income, is to offer this memory of a life-time experience at no cost to their families. Because of significant volunteer and in-kind support, the cost for each camper is extremely low: $1,650 for everything! This includes food, medical supplies and the cost of all the fun activities.
The applications are coming in and we do not want to turn any eligible child away. Children with tracheotomies have been left out of the fun and thrill of sleep away camp for too long! Please consider sponsoring a child at $1,650 or contributing to our sponsorship drive.
