Camp HellnBack Veteran Art Show

2018 is Camp Hellnback's 4th year bringing military veteran art and artists to Burning Man, a week long event in the Northern Nevada desert.
The camp and the event is art for art's sake, we make no sales or commissions. The goal for Hellnback is for military veterans to use art and conversation to share their stories, and perspective of combat and their transition home to a crowd of near 70,000 visitors.
The art is borrowed or donated art from our own campers, as well as independent artists and art therapy programs at active military and veteran hospitals.
The money raised through this gofundme will be used to produce and frame prints of, or ship the the art borrowed by veterans as well as the infrastructure to hang and protect it.
Our greatest cost is always lumber. We build a memorial wall each year, which allows names to be submitted on line, or for visitors to leave names and messages for veterans we've lost to time, combat or suicide. Then with the increase of number of submissions, we need to build even more structures to hang art.
We will also be buying supplies for three art projects. There will be two painting projects done with Reno veteran organizations that will be brought to Burning Man. And the third will take place at the event, where participants and visitors create art that will be gifts delivered to individual veterans who are in patients at VAs throughout the country.
The other steady cost is our storage of the infrastructure and donated art pieces.
Your donation provides an opportunity to build a bridge between two groups that normally find themselves on opposite sides in protests, debate and social media. By exposing the awareness and artistry of veterans to the community, built on acceptance and expression, participation can be cathartic for both veteran and visitor.
