We are a small group of socialists that live and work in the Chico area and wish to help those affected by the Camp Fire. We have seen how the disaster relief system and organizations fail to help many, and corporations shed all humanity to protect profits.

Many organizations make an effort to be noticed as they perform their charity. We are NOT that type of organization. Fulfilling the needs of a person or family pushed aside by the cruel engine of a greedy society does not require cameras or a social media post. We may be limited by our size and funds, but we don’t limit our actions to fit the media’s consumption cycle.

The people we are trying to help are those displaced from the Camp Fire and struggling to survive day-to-day. Relief organizations, dependent on disaster capitalism, focused only on the wealthy and ignored these people. A large disaster relief organization set up a shelter at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds only after Cal-Fire stopped using it as their staging area. Many Camp Fire evacuees migrated there from the Wal-Mart shelter site after being evicted.

Unfortunately, there’s an abundance of people we have the opportunity to help. For each person/family we encounter, we politely inquire their immediate and upcoming needs, then develop a proposal for direct action that would help them meet those needs. Each proposal is unique to the individual/family and subject to democratic approval by our group.

Common requests for aid are:
- Food
- Gas Cards
- Clothing for cold weather
- Tents
- Sleeping Bags
- Car Insurance Payment
- P.O. Box
- First Aid Items

Our network of volunteers stay in contact with those requesting aid, and works with them to deliver gift cards and/or funds in person.

There are still people and families displaced and living on the streets. They’re hungry, cold, and our society fails them every day. We’re trying to help those struggling to survive, recover, and be treated as a human.

Comrades!

We are ready to start using the GoFundMe funds to help those still struggling to recover from the Camp Fire and the "relief" systems set up by disaster capitalism. We will be withdrawing the funds into a bank account we set up for our small group.

We can't help all survivors, but we have identified some individuals with immediate need for financial help. Our plan is to provide them with direct cash payments.

We have also developed a way for people to submit proposals to us. This allows us to:
- keep a logged history of requests
- determine the most pressing needs
- make democratic decisions

Here's the url to our proposal form:

Thank you to everyone that donated. Our goal is to use every cent to help those ignored by the disaster capitalism system.
