Walking in Hope, Camino de Santiago
This is very much a trip launched from a base of faith. My dream was rediscovered in talking to a friend, with whom I will journey. Her words to upon hearing my many worries and objections were, "Pray, plan, relax. God will take care of the rest."
There are numerous reasons I can't "afford" this trip, but there are far more reasons that I can't "afford" to try to respond to God's call to pilgrimage. It is difficult to write this, but it is always hard to ask for help and to rely on God, and the goodness of people - but to do so is to take my first wobbly steps on the path of the pilgrim.
Why $3200? I am not exactly sure of all my costs to be honest. Right now the planning figures are about $1600 for airfare, $1600 for the trip. This is a place to start. I will be 100% transparent with my costs; expect a breakdown to begin to appear, from transport, to pilgrimage expenses, to supplies. If more money is donated than what I use in the end, I will donate that money.
If you would consider a donation to help fund the journey and my book, I would be immensely grateful. I will also be taking as many prayer requests with me as my heart will hold - meaning as many as you ask for.
God bless you for whatever you can do. No donation is too small - or too large! :-) Thank you for helping me to find "the way." Thank you for helping me to "walk in hope."
During the past year, I have logged nearly 1700 miles of training - be assured that I prayed for you during each step! There were days that due to injury, I too no steps, there were days when I walked 15 miles or more. Even at rest, you were all in my heart of prayer.
God willing, and thanks to your extraordinary generosity, Sue and I will leave in 52 days. Many challenges remain, so we do beg your prayers. If you want to let me know of any special prayer requests, please send me a message here, or email me. Thank you and God bless you all!
It has been awhile since I have posted an update, I don't want to be showing up from here too often. Here is an update, along with my desire to start an email list, that I will manage on my own. Take a look and let me know if you want to be on that email list. I'd like snail mail addresses as well - read on for details. And THANK YOU! https://breadhere.wordpress.com/2015/09/14/about-that-camino/
I resonate with this. My "journey" is not physical (this time), but of a different kind entirely. I launched a similar Go Fund Me account to support me in my efforts to promote LGBT inclusion in church, and have likewise been overwhelmed by the generous response. I also agree, absolutely, that it's not just the money that matters, important as that is, but also the simple message it sends of support, encouragement and affirmation. In acknowledgement of the value, I include my own small contribution,
