Camille's Breast Cancer Fund

Donation protected
In May 2016, Joseph and Cynthia Warren's only daughter, Camille, had her mountain top experience cut short by a doctor's call.

In the 1990s, John Hill and Camille met at Oakwood College, and after graduation they never expected their separate paths to cross again.  So much for their prophetic gifts!

Some fifteen years later, Camille accepted an invitation to teach in the history and political science department at Oakwood University.  John was the registrar for Oakwood.

When Camille met with John to advocate for a student, John was wowed by her charisma and passion, and she was impressed with his resourcefulness and creativity in developing a plan to help the student.  A friendship began to grow.

Months later, John invited Camille to a Bible study that he was leading; she saw him in a new light, sensing that maybe he was her long-awaited life partner.  The sparks grew and their prayers led them to marry with a quiet elopement on a Friday.  What a great moment of joy, happiness, and excitement!

Three days later, May 16th, Camille got the doctor's call -- the biopsy confirmed she had triple negative breast cancer.

Camille thought John might leave when she told him the diagnosis; not so. He daily affirmed to her that his vow to stay in sickness and in health was non-negotiable. Together they claimed, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of [cancer], for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Plans for travel, wedding receptions, and a honeymoon were put on hold while John stepped up to be a caregiver as Camille tackled fighting cancer with her top tier medical team at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

At the end of September, Camille completed ten rounds of chemo treatment with less than favorable results, which is frustrating as she  battles one of the most aggressive forms of  breast cancer. She proudly wears her bald head as a badge of hope and determination. John's steady love and commitment buoy her in the darkest moments.  How merciful and kind of God to join their paths for such a time as this.

Needless to say, Camille's medical expenses are not fully covered by health insurance.   To date, the uncovered bills for doctors, hospitals, and related medical expenses exceed $15,000.  There are many out-of-pocket expenses, including home health care, prescriptions, housekeeping, and increased cost for the best quality food.

In lieu of wedding gifts, John and Camille ask for your support via www.gofundme/CamilleWarrenHill

AND, please pray for them.  God still works miracles.  May their story encourage and strengthen your faith.
