Stacia Goes to the Cambridge Writers Workshop

Donation protected
First, the good news: I found out on Saturday, June 22, 2019 that I was accepted into the Cambridge Writers Workshop in Paris  next month. Then, wonder of wonders, I found out just yesterday, June 24, that I was granted a partial scholarship to attend.

Now, the not-as-good news: Less the scholarship, the cost of tuition is still $1,895. And I'll also need to cover the cost of my travel from Baltimore to Paris (estimated at $1100).

I know that professional and academic development are privileges. They're privileges I can rarely afford without help, months of advance notice, and significant savings -- none of which I have right now. It's a long shot that I'll raise the total cost of attendance to this opportunity by the final due date, July 1, 2019. But I'm asking, anyway. It's possible. And possibility feeds our dreams until they're realized.

I'll be continuing work on the first draft of a novel I'm about 1/3 of the way through. I'm also hoping to finish and submit a nonfiction essay collection proposal to my literary agent, so that we can finally put the book on submission. I've been working on both of these projects, in some form, for three years. I believe that I'll be able to finish one of these projects with the uninterrupted work time and instruction and guidance I'd receive in the workshop. (I've gotten as far as I have on each, by attending two previous residencies/workshops in the past year).

If you're inclined to contribute it would mean so, so much. It's completely understandable if you choose not to. Thanks for considering.
