Callender's Louisiana Flood Funding

To friends we may not ever know, my mother, father and I have lost so much in the recent 1,000-year Louisiana flood. My 66 year old, retired parents are lifetime residents of the Baton Rouge area.
Saturday morning 8-13-16, we watched the waters rise inch by inch until it finally breached the doors and filled my parents home. We lifted as much as we possibly could on blocks with what little time we had the night before. Nearly everything we owned saw the murky 5.5 foot high waters. We were rescued by a BRPD police boat. My parents are retired, having spent their entire lives working and raising a family, saving and buying their home now to be lost. That sense of security now gone, their home no longer inhabitable.
Sadly, my parents do not have flood insurance because they are outside of the flood plain. The loss of their home, personal items such as family photos, hand drawn pictures from their grandchildren now lost. The emotional healing will take years to recover and watching the pain and sorrow in their eyes as we sort through their dream home is so difficult. All three cars were lost along with the house.
Our family has generously given us a place to stay while we try and put the pieces of this life back together, and are helping us with the demo and clean up. The days are long and the conditions are horrible. The home has no electricity and the heat and humidity is almost unbearable.
All in all, we can see God’s hand and provision for us - we are all safe and everything we ever owned was a gift from Him. Now is no different. With confidence we know that He will see us through.
There are so many people in need. We believe God will meet our needs and know that any support from you will a blessing sent from Him. Please follow your heart for those you believe need your help.
