#CAIROINCRISIS

Tax deductible
Cairo in Crisis is a community initiative of Men of Power Women of Strength, Inc. of Cairo, Illinois, a once thriving town located between the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. Cairo used to be a booming town, known as Little Egypt to many; full of life, love and legacy with a prosperous economy. In just shy of a Century, the population of this town has
dwindled by well over 12,000 to merely 2000 to date.

Cairo is in distress and nearly abandoned due to mismanagement of funds, loss of businesses, jobs and
now facing a housing crisis; all having a devastating impact on the city’s infrastructure.  The Cairo in Crisis movement is standing in the gap as the mouthpiece for the community to inspire, engage, motivate, educate and ensure that the voices of the remaining and fleeing families are heard.

The current housing crisis which affects nearly 200 households are being displaced and scattered to “wherever these families might land”. These remaining families are predominantly minorities. While housing is being stabilized, we are also working to strengthen the city’s infrastructure by cultivating excellence in the areas of behavior and goal setting (education and job training). The goal of Men of Power Women of Strength, Inc. is to develop, empower and promote community leadership to reach its greatest potential while changing the culture of our community.
