Hoops4Hope

We are a group of students in the University of Bath and we are organizing a wheelchair basketball event on our campus in the support of the WheelPower charity, hoping to raise funds to contribute to their mission.  We are doing this event in collaboration with Motorola, Energean Oil & Gas PLC and The Berry company.

We found that wheelchair basketball is one of the most common sports for disabled people and 13,9 million people in UK report living with a disability. More than half of them are not practicing sport and the majority of them are finding significant difficulties to practice it at a professional level, due to high prices of the equipment, training and travel.

For these reasons, we believe that by supporting WheelPower we will help more disabled people practice sport and so, enrich their lives. We believe that success of this project would inspire more people with disabilities to enter sport, as well as help raise awareness about these issues amongst our society, challenge perceptions and help create a more inclusive world.
