B's Ride: To purchase a ramp van
We truly need to get B his van! He is getting heavier and more awkward to lift into our van and get him strapped into his car seat. I am concerned for his safety and mine each time I lift him into the car. Plus that word "freedom" is so important for him!
SO excited to have Panera Bread ( The Howley Bread Group) on board to help support our fundraising efforts to purchase a ramp van for Benjamin! They have already hosted an amazing event for us in January and we raised $2,000!!! Sadly two events had to be postponed due to all the snow! Our next event will be Tuesday, February 24th at the East Greenwich Panera Bread from 5 - 7 PM. Author Jenna Blum will be there to discuss her new book! How exciting! Panera is working on more events to help raise money. Our next car show fundraising event will be Sunday, June 28th at Governor Sprague Mansion in Cranston, RI.
Please share this Go Fund Me account with all your friends! The more we spread the word the sooner we will have the funds to purchase Benjamin a vehicle that will allow him to be free, safe and happy!
An example of how we could really use this van is: Yesterday getting ready for church in the morning I told him he could not bring his power chair to church due to the chance of rain. We have a trailer attached to the back or our minivan that we strap his chair to on nice days, but since it is outside the vehicle and exposed to the elements the times he can bring his chair places is limited. This has worked well for the spring and summer months (when it isn't raining), but when the colder weather and snow begins we will not be able to use the trailer at all :(
He is sad that he has to be "pushed" in his manual wheelchair when he knows he can have the freedom to drive himself. Even though he has a really nice group of friends who are always willing to help him, he wants to be independent.
Please continue to share this link on your facebook page to help Benjamin have his prayer answered to have the freedom most children have.
Thank you again for all your help, kindness and "sharing"!
