Family and friends,
On Wednesday, June 19th, we received news that every parent fears. Our son, Joe, was diagnosed with cancer. Since that day he has spent 10 days in the ICU at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, endured a surgery to remove the source tumor from his body, and has been fighting complications with respiratory insufficiency. Even though the source tumor has been removed, he is now battling metastasized secondary stage 3 lung cancer.
Joe currently has no health insurance and is unable to return to work while he continues his fight to beat this. He is now put in the position of shouldering the burden of the entirety of medical expenses that have accumulated as of now and those that will accumulate during his treatment, which may easily reach upwards of $100,000.
We are humbly asking for donations to help relieve some of this unexpected financial burden. Any donations received will go directly towards medical expenses and other necessary expenses such as rent and food while he remains out of work. Joe has completed 1 cycle of chemotherapy already and will be going through 3 more cycles in the coming weeks and months. Additionally, he will require after care services while he goes through treatment and recovery.
Everyone that knows and has crossed paths with Joe knows what an amazing person he is and we know he is loved by so many. He’s kept his positive attitude and sense of humor in tact as he faces something that no one should ever have to. We cannot thank you enough for just taking the time to read this and share his story.
