Buy and improve The Wizard's Guild

I've spent a lot of time at The Wizard's Guild (formerly known as Universe of Superheroes) over the years. Over 6 years as an employee, and a regular customer before that. I remember when it was a busy, fun, friendly place all the time, with people playing Magic:The Gathering or D&D, or just picking up and talking about their comic pulls. Recently, the attention it needs just hasn't been there for it, and despite the efforts of many people, it hasn't been doing so great.

I want to change that.

I want to get more people in, by reaching out to all the communities of gamers nearby, especially the college. I want to host events for casual players, competitive players, board gamers, roleplayers, women, college students, young children, lgbt folks, and everyone else.

I want to make sure everyone knows they are welcome, especially those who may not assume that about spaces like this one.

To these ends, I need to make this my full-time job. I want to do this, and I know that I can succeed at making it sustainable, but I can't do it as a side project. I intend to quit my reasonable job to do this.

I do think that eventually this can be a profitable venture. However, I think it will take time, and it will take money. Fixing things up, cleaning, carrying stock that draws different types of people, rennovating to have additional play space (including some private gaming rooms that can be used for special events, like birthday parties, or just as a quieter space for things like roleplaying games that demand more focus) - this all takes money, and this is what I'm going to do.

This is a project that means a lot to me, and I hope to use any funds gained here to make sure to make a space that means a lot to other people. Having a space to relax, to get away from politics and just play some games is important!
