Buster Brown MRI & Surgery

Donation protected
My name is Josie, I live in Aurora, IL and I work in insurance. (I'm sorry for this) I am currently in the middle of a break from school, but I am working towards an Associate's Degree in Health & Sciences to become an ultrasound techinican, which is my dream job.

Nine years ago, I rescued Bubs from a puppy mill pet store when one of the employees gave me the head's up that he was about to have his "last day" in the store. At the time I had $387 to my name, but I couldn't leave him there, and I bought him for the bargain of $367 and ate ramen or not at all until my next paycheck. I have loved him since the day I met him, and if you know me, you know what a sucker I am for him.

In the last two weeks, he has been experiencing pain in his back, resulting in not wanting to get up, wobbling and decreased usage in his back right leg.  I immediately took him to the vet, who put him on a course of steriods, medication and muscle relaxers, which have helped with the pain in his back, but  the decreased function of his back leg worsened. Last night, his follow up visit  included xrays that showed that he has calcifications in the discs of his back, commonly known as IVDD.

The first step for Busters is an MRI for his back, and a neuro consultation. His neuro consulation is on 12/13, and I will be taking him to that no matter what, but the cost of the MRI ranges from $2900-$6500, and that is the best estimate that I can find within a reasonable distance from me.

Any and all donations received will be put immediately towards the cost of his MRI; and if surgery is required, towards that.  I have a few weeks to try to get this together, and I'm starting off in the "worst case scenario" mindset, as the symptoms of IVDD can get worse very quickly and being proactive in treatment is the best thing you can possibly do for your pet.

IVDD is common in doxies, and for years now, Buster has been carried around like the little King he is. I watch him like a hawk, don't let him jump off anything, and his very suddent onset of leg weakness has caught me completely off guard and unprepared. I very frankly can't afford all of this all at once.

This year has been unbeliveably rough all over, for everyone, but losing a member of my family because of money is not something I can bear. I am a pretty proud person, and I rarely ask for him, but this is for my Bubs, and he can't ask for help.
