He started to get sick January of 2018, it took the doctors a while to figure out why he was having back pain. While they were trying to figure out what was wrong John suffered multiple infections finally the doctors found that John’s infections were caused by bacteria in his blood stream, because of this bacteria and infections John had to miss many days of work.
In April 2018, the doctors discovered that the bacterial infection Had infected his aortic heatt valve and had caused major damage to his heart. After over six weeks of intense medication through a picc line John was ready to have his damaged heart valve replaced, but in July 2018 the bacteria had returned this time in his lower back and, he finally had to take a medical leave of absence from work . After another ten more weeks of intense IV medication through another picc line John was finally cleared of the bacteria.
On October 3, 2018, John was able to receive a mechanical valve for his heart at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston.
When the surgeons operated they discovered that his valve had suffered even greater damage than they thought. John will have be on blood thinners for the rest of his life. He is on the road to recovery but before he can hope to return to work, he must get his blood thinner levels in order. John’s prolonged illness has place his employment in jeopardy, meanwhile his bills are piling up. John is a great brother, a super son, a caring uncle and a dedicated worker. He is a kind and sensitive soul with a desire to help others.
