Building Healthy Mental Health

Donation protected
The purpose of this center is to provide support to people who feel they are in crisis and need someone to talk to.

We also want to provide education and support to family and communities so we can help others reach a healthy mental health.  It is our vision to be able to be a “holding place” for people in crisis until they can be seen by the formal system.  It is also an opportunity for people who “feel” they are in crisis to have a place to go to talk out what is troubling them without needing to go to emergency department.  It is not designed to replace the current mental health care system but to compliment it.

The center can service less acute people who need minimal support, which in turn, would alleviate the volume of need our Mental Health Care System is trying to support.  The center can also support clients that need to be seen by Mental Health but due to wait times may become more ill or more critical during the wait time.

To provide resources and help people make connections to community supports.

To provide life coaching and one on one support.

To empower people to find wellness

The center can provide education to community and business who feel the effects of individuals or employees experiencing mental health difficulties.  Giving the employer and employee the ability to address mental health issues that impact the work environment by providing workshops and education.  These can be tailored to the specific needs

The center will run daily programming in the afternoon and again in the evening.  Each day will address a different topic.  While one staff is running recovery groups or wellness workshops, the other will be available for walk in’s and booked appointments for those seeking one on one coaching for job readiness, esteem building, goal setting and any other need that arises.  The facilitator of the recovery groups/wellness workshops, will rotate weekly so service consumers don’t become reliant on one particular staff.  This routine will also be part of the Shelburne and Digby sites.  It is important that consumers not see the center as a “drop in” or become their social outlet.  It is to provide service for someone in immediate need and offer education and programing to help in recovery.  We are not establishing ourselves as clinicians or providing on-going one on one support in place of the current mental health system.  The center is to provide short term assistance one on one until the consumer can be seen by their regular mental health clinician.

Donations recieved will be managed by the board electives of Tri County Mental Health and Wellness Association.  The primary goal is to raise enough money to open a location and staff one person until we can secure other resources of funding.
