Yoshie's Ciudad Real Fund
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Yosmhara Fuentes, or Yoshie for short. I am a Student at Angola High School and have been chosen from kids all over Indiana to be a participant in the Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Languages (IUHPFL) 2016 program in Ciudad Real, Spain.
Any money you can donate will be appreciated. In addition to this page I also work at the local state park and at a retail store. I’ve been saving what I can and am applying to as many scholarships as I can but this trip is expensive and will not be able to happen unless I meet all the payment deadlines. The money raised will be used towards my flight, course fees, and excursions. This isn’t a vacation for me, not at all. I will have class daily and the most challenging part is I can only speak Spanish. Yeah! Only Spanish for 6 weeks, from the time I get off the plane till I go home.
About me: I am a highly involved student, I am one of the Spanish Club presidents, Student Council Junior representative, Key Club vice president, a member of my high school marching band, pep band and concert band, a member of the National Honor society, a cheerleader, and a member of the track and field team.
About the Trip: The process started all the way back in September. My Spanish teacher mentioned the program and I was very interested. I registered to take a language assessment at IPFW in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Once I passed the assessment I was invited to apply. The process was long but worth it! I had many great people helping me who recommend me, a great school administrative staff that got my paperwork, and very supportive parents that helped me to complete my application. After about a month I was invited to interview. The interview went great and a week later I got the email I had been waiting for for months “congratulations”.
Thank you for donating and listening to my story. This will be an experience I never forget.
