Bryan's Team #BerryStrong

On January 28, my dad suffered a left-side frontal lobe stroke with a large brain bleed. The stroke happened due to untreated high blood pressure. He is currently at Rush Hospital in Chicago. He has had 3 brain surgeries, one to put in a drain to get rid of excess fluid in his brain, one to remove the clot, and recently one to put in a shunt to allow for the CSF to drain. He will also be having a feeding tube put in.

Thankfully he is improving. St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford wanted to write him off, saying that there was nothing more that they could do. Mom then made the decision to have him transferred to Rush. That was the best decision! We have seen so much improvement since he has been there and they genuinely care about helping him recover. He is still unable to talk at this time but he sure tries! He also has right-side deficit. We don't know fully what his deficit will be just yet.

Our next step will be inpatient rehabilitation. He will do lots of hours of physical therapy and also speech therapy. Dad is stubborn so I think he will work hard to be able to do the things he could do before.

As much as we hate to, we decided that we need to do this gofundme account. My mom has been by my dad's side since it happened. The love between them is amazing and inspiring. This account will help with household bills, travel expenses, and any other expenses that may come in during his recovery since they have no money coming in at this time.

All of the support our family has gotten has been so amazing and has helped give us strength when times were rough. We can never thank k you enough!
