Bryan DeVasher Scholarship Fund

Bryan DeVasher, a longtime journalist and inspiring journalism educator, passed away on Oct. 30, 2018, at age 54. Bryan taught copy-editing at Virginia Commonwealth University's Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture. We wish to honor his memory by establishing a scholarship fund in his name. An endowment of $20,000 would allow us to award an annual scholarship of at least $1,000 to a student who embodies the traits Bryan lived: a commitment to fair, accurate and compelling journalism.

We started this campaign on GoFundMe, and thanks to the generosity of donors, we raised the seed money for the Bryan DeVasher Memorial Scholarship Fund. The account is now being managed by VCU's development office. Contributions can be made at https://www.support.vcu.edu/give/fund?fund=8455 .
