Brown Memorial Hall Floor Repair

Donation protected
Our Church is in the village of Whitehead near the town of Carrickfergus.

We are wholly committed to our "wee town" and our church hall plays a vital part in the community life of our Village.  Each Friday we should be hosting our regular  pensioners lunch for the elderly people nearby, offering a four course meal and more importantly an essential opportunity to enjoy a bit of chat with a friendly face.  We ought to be having our weekly youth groups open to everyone, Our local playgroup meets in our halls throughout the school year and they rely on the hall for the Children's exercises and playtime but now that is completely impossible since the floor has been removed.  Our hall is also the home of a thriving local Badminton Club, but they have had to temporarily relocate to alternative facilities in the a town about 10 miles away.

In addition the hall plays a central part in a number of local annual community events, such as the annual Victorian Street Fair which regularly attracts between 7000 and 10000 people to the village.  Our halls are filled with a myriad of stalls as we play our part in welcoming the visitors to the town.

But right now, none of that is happening because of the discovery of severe long term water damage which means that the floor and all the adjacent woodwork needs to be replaced.

The work also entails rewiring the hall and replacing the existing radiators and pipework for the heating system, as well as extensive work on the  drainage system.  We have approached our insurers, but we are not optimistic regarding their response.

After comprehensive investigations the detailed cost estimates for our repairs is £135000.   We are not a large congregation, and we are not rich, and our denomination has focused it's resources on other priorities.  Nonetheless, we are doing all we can to raise this money as soon as possible so that we can complete the repairs before the end of October this year. That will be just in time for this Year's Street Fair.

It is our hearts desire to show the love of God to our friends and neighbours here in Whitehead and our Church hall plays a great part in allowing us to that.  It will mean so much to us if you are able to help and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
