Brooke's Brave Battle Against Breast Cancer

Brooke Parker wears many hats as a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, girlfriend, bonus mom, granddaughter, cousin, social worker and most recently, cancer warrior.

Unfortunately, Brooke was unexpectedly diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer) in early 2019 and underwent a bilateral mastectomy on March 29th. Brooke has spent the last six weeks recovering from
surgery and is now embarking on the next phase of her cancer fight, chemotherapy. 

Brooke has been out of work since her surgery and won’t be able to return until after she completes chemo, at least another 18 weeks which will extend through the summer. Soon Brooke will face paying 100% of her insurance premium due to FMLA coverage expiring, which will be a significant expense that Brooke and her family were not able to plan or prepare for. Other costs associated with Brooke’s treatment include medical bills, co-pays, medications, a wig (starting at $500) and of course day-to-day expenses such as rent, utilities and groceries while Brooke is out of work.
