The Broke Juggler's Project

Donation protected
Juggling costs too much. With your help we can change that. I need help to start producing high quality juggling props inexpensively that anyone can afford.

My name is Jeff, and I am a juggler. Well, I'm a lot of things, but for my purposes here, I'm a juggler. I have been for 15 years, but about 8 years ago, I met a performer named Brandon, who really opened my eyes to the world of juggling.

All at once, I was hooked. I was throwing things in the air, and occasionally catching them, with every spare moment I had. At first, I was usings Brandon's props, but after a while, I had to buy my own. That's when I learned, juggling props are expensive!

For years, I just accepted that fact, and did what I could. My first set of balls were hackey sacks, and my first set of clubs were small plungers from the dollar store. I've definitely purchased my share of duds (tennis balls are just... just awful) When I finally bought my first set of real clubs, they set me back almost $150! I won't lie, I was super excited to get them, but even then... it just seemed like too much.

Since then, I've made my own props where I could, and found I have a passion for it, I really like producing things with my hands. For a few years now, I've said to myself, "When I retire, I'm going to open a juggling store and sell this stuff cheap, and just make props all day, and the world will be a happy place." Does it sound like I was just dreaming, with no real commitment? I was.

Then, just a few days ago, Brandon sent out a message on facebook looking for a new set of props, but didn't want to pay what the top of the line models costed. That kicked something over in my brain, and I had a moment where I said, "Okay, this is enough. Why can't I make props?"

I looked at plans I've had for various props, and everything I've already made is pretty much streamlined as far as possible, because I was a broke juggler, trying to save money.

What I want to do now is take that mindset, and benefit other broke jugglers all over the country, and maybe even one day the world, and start producing high quality props, for dollar store plunger prices.

This means a lot to me, because juggling is a brilliant hobby, with a ton of benefits, that I feel a lot of people put down, simply because of the pricetag. That's what I want to change.

If you think this is a worthy endeavor, please consider donating to make it a reality. Juggling is already an amazingly beneficial hobby. Together, we can make it accessible to everyone.
