Briya Marie…
is a gifted and very talented, 15-year old, young lady. Her beauty radiates a room and she owns a smile that would melt a heart. Briya is a sassy diva with a sense of fashion that would stop a model in her tracks. She is a soul that brings life to the party with a very strong sense of self. Underneath her shy exterior, Briya is very goofy and energetic; a vivacious and domineering individual. She cares for her family and loves them with her everything. Briya aspires to be the very best at each and every task, and leaves her mark once she exits. But on Sunday, May 14, 2017, her life would take an unexpected and drastic turn!
Between nightfall of May 13, 2017 and Mother’s Day, Briya became unresponsive during her slumber. Briya was transported, by ambulance, to Florida Hospital (Rollins) where she would undergo treatment. Upon arrival, it was reported that Briya’s blood sugar had reached a high of 695; which invoked a coma as her body responded in shock. Throughout the night, a lack of oxygen, cause swelling of the brain and permanent damage. Over the course of the next five days, Briya would fight to overcome her submission to the injuries. On Monday, her lungs collapsed and her family learned that she had contracted pneumonia; Wednesday, her kidneys failed and she was scheduled to undergo dialysis. By Thursday, around 6pm, Briya’s heart stopped beating. Her doctors and nurses worked, aggressively, to bring her back, but were unsuccessful. May 18, 2017 marks the day that this angel we know as, Briya Marie received her wings.
Upon her departure, she is survived by her mother, Reshunda; her brother, Bruce Jr.; and her sisters, Sabrina, Tyiana, and Alice.
There are limited funds to give Briya a proper homegoing, so I am asking for any denomination of donations to help the Watts-Roath family. This is a really difficult and unexpected tragedy; in which you can never be fully prepared for. Any help will be much appreciated, as well as, prayers of strength and understanding during this trying time.
