Bring Libby to safety!

Worst possible week to rescue a horse from San Diego County!  Needed emergency evacuation from fast moving fire.

On Tuesday, 12/5/2017, with the help of a non-profit horse rescue organization called "HiCaliber Horse Rescue", I saved a beautiful black Percheron mare from being sold to slaughter at a livestock auction in Southern California.
The horse, now named Liberty,  was transported directly from the auction to a ranch operated by HiCaliber rescue group in Valley Center, San Diego County.
On Wednesday, 12/6/2017, the morning after she survived the livestock auction, I started making arrangements for her transportation to her new home in Half Moon Bay, California, about 7 hours away from HiCaliber's ranch.
On Thursday, 12/7/2017, I received an urgent message from HiCaliber Horse Rescue, asking me if I could get Liberty evacuated because of the fast moving fires that were getting uncomfortably close to the ranch.  Since there was no way I could physically get to San Diego County in time to bring her to safety, I put a desperate plea out on a Facebook group coordinating rescue efforts (Southern California Equine Emergency Evacuation).  Miraculously, an amazing woman named Rachael messaged me and said she would go pick up my horse - a total stranger volunteered to drive 2 hours to rescue a horse neither of us had ever met.
Rachael was able to pick up Liberty (despite some harrowing problems along the way), and she is safe with Rachael for now.  Another volunteer who owns a heavy duty horse trailer jumped in her truck and is now on her way to bring Liberty to Half Moon Bay.  She should be here within the next 24 hours.

The cost of this emergency evacuation is much higher than the regular shipping I was anticipating on paying.
I am hoping to raise funds to reimburse these selfless helpers for their expenses and to make them whole financially.  Also, to help rehabilitate this beautiful horse comes with significant expenses - Liberty is a big horse (Percheron cross, a heavy draft horse breed), the rescuers didn't even have a halter that fit her.  None of my tack will fit her - if anyone has draft horse size tack they are no longer using, let me know!

Any and all donations will go toward reimbursing the rescue team for their expenses, extra feed for the underweight horse and extra items needed for her rehabilitation.
If you prefer to help HiCaliber Horse Rescue, you can donate to them directly on their Facebook page.  They are awesome!
